September 4–November 1
Body Forth

Artists: Annica Anderson, Ellie McGinty, and Pamela Willhite

About the exhibit:

Incarnation and embodiment are vital aspects of the Christian imagination, and artists remind us of the power of the individual human person to, in the words of Shakespeare, “body forth the form of things unknown to give them a local habitation and a name.” Artists have the power to make work that creates spaces where heaven and earth overlap, reminding us who (and whose) we are.

In Body Forth, artists Annica Anderson, Ellie McGinty, and Pamela Willhite all approach the idea of embodiment in different ways. Their work touches on many themes: the Holy Spirit’s work in our bodies and lives, the ways our bodies bear the struggle between the flesh and the Spirit, and the power of the things we wear and the stories we tell with the objects we carry with us in this world. In this thoughtful and provoking exhibit, we hope you will be able to draw connections to the Holy Spirit’s work in your own life and body.
